Andre's surgery in August 2009

Andre had a growth on his arm that grew bigger over a few months. We took him to the doctor which referred us to a surgeon. The surgeon said that it was a virus that was trapped in that area and was just growing bigger. It needed to be cut out and the virus burned away. Andre would have to be put under for this surgery. We had it scheduled for the end of July and when he came back for the Colorado hike that him and Frank went on his arm was really itchy. A day or two later we discovered he had shingles and would have to postpone the surgery for 3 weeks. Five days before his 16th birthday he bravely had his surgery. He did really well and was released that day. The surgeon that performed his surgery was the same doctor that did his emergency appendectomy the summer of 5th grade. What a small world.
